Distraction time is over. No more video games, reading unrelated design material, watching ridiculous TV shows (thank you Private Practice for being so awful I now hate TV) and no more nonsense. Today I spent good time in my favorite coffee shop doing the laptop thing in the corner sorting out my ideas. While I hate being the cliche Mac user in a coffee shop, I do love the feeling of accomplishment I get from my visits.
I have my outline of projects for my new and improved portfolio. Fifteen projects in the next 7 months that will get my blood sweat and tears in certainty. While researching inspiration I came across this amazing illustrator that has captured my attention immensely. Elizabeth E. Schuch has some of the most beautiful fantasy illustrations I’ve seen and got my brain flowing with getting started on my own illustrations based off Grimm’s Fairytale Classics, that I LOVED as a kid.
Side Note: I have been distracted three times writing this blog by an update from my favorite author’s blog, Devil’s Panties that she mentions and updating my home page preferences. Geesh...
I’ve also order this beautiful manifesto from the Keep Calm Gallery. I am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival after a week, but that Royal Air Mail takes time. I have the perfect spot to place it above my computer. It has such a nice crisp feel to it and it’s letterpress. I looooovvvvveeee letterpress.
So with all these fresh ideas swimming around I’m back to work. Well, off to make dinner, then back to work!
