Last week I felt a little more stable working on my own and not fumbling around so much. Tuesday I was able to spend quite a bit of time working on two jobs on my own. I say on my own, but let’s be honest, I only asked about two hundred questions.
I worked on a document that had a varnish plate that seemed easy, but ended up being off just a bit. It’s amazing what things can halt the process of a file being completed. Even certain simple viewing settings in your Acrobat can screw things up. Of course, it’s all about remembering those simple settings and to turn them on or off depending on the type of job you’re working on. Again, communication.
The packaging boxes I worked on the previous week came back for the final approval and I even got to sign my name of the proof before it went to press! Ahhhh...prettty high res proofs. Don’t fail me.
I also got the crash course in printing plates. It involves lasers. Okay, not one that I get to handle, but it’s a humungous printer that prints on metal plates. Not much too it, but it’s remembering what computer prints what and what settings to choose and what layers need to be turned on or off and what size plate. Confused? Yeah, me too.
This week I'm FINALLY learning Quark. Yup...
