Prepress Update Week 5

Last week was a rough one for me to get into the internship. With my day job at odd times and after winning tickets to Lady Gaga, I rearranged my schedule to drive two hours away to make the concert only to get sick for the next few days (it was awesome, by the way, proof below).

However, I was able to work on a packaging file, which was fun and frustrating all in one. Seeing a file flat and laid out has the mind see things that aren’t there in reality. I learned a lot of the importance of preparing the file correctly in measurements, because when the die is created, if the printed document is off just a bit and that die comes down in the cutter there’s going to be big problems for all.

I like being out in the warehouse where all the action takes place. The die machine, press, bindery, mail room, etc. There’s lots of action going on.

Did I mention communication is a big thing?
